Photography:Weaving With Light

For me, photography is a very important avenue of expressing my relationary, contemplative and communionary art practice. It is a tool by which I gather the gifts of beauty and wonder I find to me. It is a tool for remembering the extraordinary in the ordinary so that it can be witnessed again and again by myself and others. It is a tool for representing the tapestries light weaves all around us. The camera itself is a tool for contemplation, assisting me to slow down and focus my attention and really see. As it trains me in “…putting one’s head, one’s eye and one’s heart on the same axis” as Henri Cartier-Bresson said, this skill can be extended to other aspects of life and art. Still, I find myself coming back to the camera and the photograph.
